Where to Go for Family-Friendly Adventures in the Hillsboro | NH Area

Family Adventure

The snow is melting and signs of spring are everywhere in the Hillsboro area. We know that our customers are eager to hit the road with their families and start making memories, so we decided to put together a list of local destinations that belong on your must-see list this summer.

And in true Hillsboro Ford fashion, weā€™ll make sure we recommend the best Ford vehicle for the adventure, from ultra-rugged off-roaders to heavy-duty tow trucks to our most eco-friendly options for conserving fuel as you cruise.

Just 90 miles north along the I-93 youā€™ll find Lost River Gorge in North Woodstock, NH. The wooden boardwalk makes this rugged hike accessible for all ages and abilities, while those more adventurous can explore the 11 boulder caves or take in the scenic views from the ā€˜Giant Bird Nest.ā€™ Young explorers will love the outdoor learning center, where they can enjoy mining for treasure, hanging with live animals, and more.

What to drive?
For this activity, any Ford vehicle will do! Youā€™ll be on the highway, so set the dial to Eco Mode and enjoy the ride.
For our resident RVers, Sea Coast Camping is a great place to head with the family. Itā€™s on the coast, so youā€™ll have any number of water sports available to you, and the RV resort is stocked with all of the amenities a camper could ask for. Reservations fill up quickly, so book your spot early to secure the best campsites.
What to drive?
Sea Coast Camping is located in North Hampton, only an hour east of Hillsboro. But if youā€™re hauling the family RV, youā€™ll need a Ford vehicle with some towing power.

Any of ourĀ pickup trucks, like the F-150, F-250, F-350, or Lightning, will get the job done; butĀ Ford SUVsĀ like the Explorer (5,000-pound max towing capacity), Expedition (9,300-pound max towing capacity), and even the Bronco (3,500-pound max towing capacity) can be trusted with the task of towing your trailer.

If youā€™re a true outdoors enthusiast, then Jericho Mountain State Park is for you. This area of New Hampshire is as gorgeous as they come, with lakes, mountains, and miles of rugged trails for ATVs, UTVs, and snowmobiling. Itā€™s also home to the first 4X4 Jeep/Truck Trail on public lands in the Northeast – a 3.5 to 5-hour trail full of challenging terrain that only the most rugged trucks and SUVs can conquer.
Campsites, modern facilities, a beach, accessible trails, and more make this NH State Park equally family-friendly. Located just 140 miles north of Hillsboro, itā€™s also close enough that your kiddos wonā€™t be crying ā€œare we there yet?ā€ from the backseats.
What to drive?
If you plan on taking advantage of the 4X4 Trail, only a seriously rugged Ford will do. Our pick, of course, would be anyĀ Ford BroncoĀ model. If youā€™ll be towing mountain bikes, an ATV, or a boat, youā€™ll need aĀ Ford truckĀ or an SUV like theĀ ExplorerĀ orĀ Expedition

For a regular olā€™ family adventure,Ā any vehicle from the Ford lineupĀ will provide the comfort, space, and fuel economy you need to enjoy your trip.
